Music from the Soul

...There is nothing more rewarding then to be reading an article like this in the morning paper while you are quietly sipping on your daily fix of Starbuck's coffee. Especially when its about the caliber of talent emerging from the alley ways of ones backyard, Milwaukee. I am not a big fan of post-modern Hip hop anymore, but this group surly reminds of the worth "Hip Hop" once represented it's grass roots. Shortly after arriving back into the Studio, I walked into the inventory warehouse to get a copy of the nominated album, "Carsel De Suenos" (Prison of Dreams).Though prior to arriving here from Florida, I could remember Manuel and I bustin out music video ideas during the long phones conversations leading into the we hours of the night. Now more so, I will finally have the opportunity to turn those ideas into visual realities within our own in-house film production studio (Garno Films). I am grateful and thankful to God for the path he has helped me carve and also leading me into my destiny here. It is funny how life has its full circle, again Kinto Sol will return to the Latin Billboards where I was first introduced to them. I met the Garcia brothers while I was working the panel room as a journalist during the award ceremonies. Manuel, Kinto Sol lead man was asked by the host of the panel as to where the motivation comes from when writing the bands songs? Manuel intellectually answers with precision..."from the wisdom of our mother earth and the complete circle of the genres of intelligence", he explains to the silenced audience. Soon after his commenting, almost as if a DJ was queued, "Los Hijos De Miaz" ( The Children From Corn) was played for the audience's observation.I was clearly hearing the poetic sounds cultivated with harmonic hooks and sublimely resurrecting lyrics with indigenous histories. If I was an advocate and or a scholar of invincible histories, this is a band that would surly deliver the research in a very profound way. I became an instant fan and or better then that, what the band calls one of it's loyal fans, "Un Soldado Por Vida" ( A solider for Life).
Excitingly, I could remember telling my best female friend "Bella Melissa" about Kinto sol and their passion behind the music. As a documentarian, on several occasions in completely different cities here in the United States.I documented parents holding their infant children up in the air. Almost as if they where offering their children to be baptized by the harmonies of the bands music. Thus far, this is one of the most powerful images I have ever documented in my career. I have also witnessed elderly woman and men alike among the youths against the foregrounds of the stage lip singing to the hypnotic band's lyrics. I often ask myself, where has Kinto Sol been all theses years?? My answer to this question through research is..."Radio play and it's programmers have had their ears distorted by not allowing themselves to listen clearly."
Kinto Sol, I believe, has rightfully earn its place within the structure of Hip Hop. In addition to their independent success, Kinto Sol has earn multi-able Gold albums and consecutive billboard award nominations "without absolutely NO Radio Play". This is an industry miracle...

Grano films will Bloom with Spring

...I could feel that the weather officially changed here in Milwaukee today. Since my arrival here in early March, the mildest cold day here, thus far could easily dominate the coldest of any in a Floridian's winter months. Yes, I am guilty of "road ragging" a northern snow bird in the past as he cuts me off along the passive Florida roadways. After living in the Lush lands of Florida for 19 years, I became numb under appreciating it's full green landscapes. Only as a youth, could I remember living within the 4 seasons growing up in the harsh Texas climates. Now that I am wearing the other shoe as an officially "snow Bird", I can say ignorance can dominate another's realistic point of view. This applies to so many genres of life and on going living experiences. You may ask..."what does all of this have to do with this blog or Grano films/Kinto sol?? My answer..."Grano" translates to a seed. "Grano Film" is... that exact translation of cultivating a bloom from ignorance. The entity's vision is to cultivate, stimulate and present a new perspective through visual content. Officially today, has become the official first day of spring blooming through the hallways of this studio. The minds of Virus Enterprises will walk by you today, their passions and visions will present a new perspective, giving a new life to the other pair of awaiting shoes...Art can make a social change.

Building Noah's Green Room Arc

...For the last 6 hours I have been prepping the Drill, switching drill bids on and off after every task. One of our extra drill batteries was dead and we were confined to use the last and only drill available to bust out the build-out of the green room. Jr, Manuel's older brother has been assigned to assist me, he is very proud of his construction background as he continually directs me on how to remove the drill bids off as he hands it down to me from above the ladder. I think to myself, has he not realize that I have been changing these bids successfully for the last 6 hours?? It is funny, because before starting this construction, I bragged about my own construction background. After converting garages into apartments back in Florida, I think that I qualify "to super" this operation? Aside of supervising this gig, we ended the day and finished the rough forming (fastening the 2' x 4' onto the wall surfaces to form the skeleton and structure). Tomorrow we will be ready to start cutting up the sheet rock and framing it in. Thank god, I am now charging both batteries,I don't think I could take another day of "in-structural drill bid replacement class". Don't get me wrong Jr. is a cool cat and very talented, we our shit done today. Hi fives were flying all over the place in-between the drill bids...;)

A Meeting of the Minds

...Finally all of the Garcia Brothers walked in....I can see the spark in all of their eyes as they find their seats around the large oval table. Moments earlier prior to the start of the meeting, I had prepped the video camera to document our first awaited and needed meeting. On this day, the Virus room will lose its virginity to the rap of the talents within its walls. It is funny how television and radio create a false sense of reality as it feeds on the individuals personal perspective to his or her projection. On this day, these artists remained outside, I was clearly collaborating with self made entrepreneurs. The Goal of the meeting was to identify, organize and strategically implement a marketing campaign to socially connect and network all the entity's under the Virus Label...

Finding a Publisher

Second entree: March 27, 2010

...It's Saturday, the air is crisp and spring seems that it wants to emerge from its Wisconsin winter cocoon. Mario and I our the only ones in the studio today, Scribe and Payback may come in today depending weather or not they decide to spend time with there families. Mario is administrating the client labels for shipping in the conference room. I am researching and surfing the net. My goal is to get the 411 on all of the other production companies in the direct area. If we are to bust out and lead the industry with pioneering content and production style, then I feel we must first evaluate the local markets. Earlier this morning, again while I was waiting for Mario to pick me up, I quickly went through the local phone book. I feel that literature in the form of a hard copy is different then digital media. They both service a similar purpose but their marketing diversities are far apart as to the exposure they attract. Print, I feel delivers a more intimate relationship and very hands on. But again, digital is becoming more closer to home as the population diversifies. My main purpose of evaluating both marketing mediums are to fine continuity in the product. This will help me to understand the market and how I can help distribute our brand into it. Not only do I have to worry about the creative product we produce, but how to successfully expose it into the field and market place. It becomes a science, I think. I am excited because we have the resources and access to successfully launch our brand. Many great artist have so many hybrid ideas which unfortunately never get the access to get produced...it is a shame. There is nothing more frustrating for a "True independent Artist" to invent or create a genius innovation and leaving that idea confined within an unpublished book tucked away in old back pack somewhere. Grano Films, has now become my needed creative publisher...
